CELEBRATION EARTH IS A LEAD EVENT OF THE CULTURE OF PEACE INITIATIVE

Celebration Earth is a year long festival for peace that welcomes global cooperation and participation and seeks to practice the ‘Peace Day, Every Day’ spirit envisioned by the 'Culture of Peace' UN designated Peace Messenger Initiative and embodied by the ‘International Day of Peace.’ Through a joyful series of events, we wish to gift the world a model of international peace and inner peace.

Celebration Earth empowers by providing a framework and connection that can be useful to individuals and the global community. By promoting the positive actions and events of our member organisations and individuals through our various networks and communities, Celebration Earth enables them to deliver their message to the world. Celebration Earth Is Free! We each create our own activity and call on others in the network for support. This support can come in many forms; participation, volunteering, promoting, you name it. Having a succesfull, group running on no money is empowering and enables people to see that all you need to succeed is the willpower. Each of us can make the world a better place - especially with a little help from some friends.

PEACE FOR THE EARTH - THEME FOR 2010

To all Celebration Earth members and thank you for your support that helped make last years launch such a wonderful success. Last year began with the 'Day The Earth Laughs' which was held to raise the spirit... through joy and laughter there flows positive energy and positive energy heals. This year we're directing this positive energy to the main theme of the 2010 Celebration Earth events, 'PEACE FOR THE EARTH'.

If we can make PEACE FOR THE EARTH, we will make PEACE FOR OURSELVES. Peace for the Earth is peace for something greater and other than ourselves. There is energy in humility. Let`s wish and create peace for our silent partner, our nurturer in life. PEACE FOR THE EARTH.

'PEACE FOR THE EARTH is PEACE FOR OURSELVES'

What does PEACE FOR THE EARTH mean to you?
How do you think we can best advance PEACE FOR THE EARTH?

Yuji Miyata, kicked off this years Celebration Earth activities with the continuation of his walk through Vietnam which began with a tree planting ceremony in Hanoi on the International Day of Peace and finished in Ho Chi Minh City with a tree planting on Earthday 2010.

Ultimately, after walking through many countries he will end up in London in time for the 2012 Olympic Games. His goal is to spread the message of peace through the preservation, protection and restoration of the earth. Any support has he makes his Celebration Earth Great Green Bridge Walk from Beijing to China will be greatly appreciated. Others are encouraged to participate in whatever way they can.

Last year Celebration Earth activities, were held throughout Japan and in Taiwan, Korea, Vietnam, USA, and South Africa. Thousands of trees were planted, hundred of talks given, at schools, universities, town halls and community centres and a LOT of media was generated, especially in North East Asia, thanks to the two major walks of Yuji Miyata, who walked through Korea, Okinawa, Taiwan and Vietnam, and Koichi Nakatani, the tree planting father and his family, who walked from Hokkaido in the north of Japan to Okinawa in the south.

Celebration Earth was co-founded by Paul Coleman and Kina Shoukichi, Japan's great musician and peace activist who is now a Senator for Okinawa in the Japanese Diet and brought into reality by a group of very committed people in Okinawa.

Happy New Year to all Celebration Earth members and thank you for your support that helped make last years launch such a wonderful success. What does PEACE FOR THE EARTH mean to you? How do you think we can best advance PEACE FOR THE EARTH? Konomi and I intend to be doing lots of earth related activities, like tree planting for example and creating permaculture gardens on our land and in the townships and schools of South Africa. Yuji Miyata, is kicking off this years Celebration Earth activities with the continuation of his walk through Vietnam. Last time Yuji was there he walked a few hundred kilometers, before getting a severe chest complaint, which he puts down to the terrible air pollution he encountered. He left to recuperate back at home in Japan a few days after a tree planting ceremony in Hanoi on the International Day of Peace, which is the focal point of Celebration Earth activities. He will return on the 10th January and aims to complete his walk on Earthday 2010.

Yuji Miyata is now walking through Vietnam spreading the Celebration Earth message: PEACE FOR THE EARTH. This the fourth satge of his walk from Beijing to the London Olympics 2012 highlights the need for the war to stop in order to save the natural environment that we all need to exist. Along the wya he plants trees and receives the support of local people. His Vietnam walk will finish April 22nd 2010. To many this may seem a pipe dream, hopeever it is a bigger pipe dream to belive that humanity can exist on this planet for much longer in a state of endless war. Celebration Earths mission is to empower people through the powerful energy that comes whe undertaking positive actions on behalf of the planet and all of its inhabitants.

ADD TO THE DECLARATION OF PEACE ON EARTH BEING DELIVERED BY CELEBRATION EARTH ON THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE ON THE ISLAND OF OKINAWA
When the United Sates declared it's independence 233 years ago it was still under the rule of of a very powerful England. Eventually independence was achieved. This has also happened in other nations. A declaration of independence is a declaration of intent and commitment and the universe responds positively to such things. That's why we're going to Declare Peace On Earth from Okinawa on the International Day of Peace, September 21st 2009. Please join us: Add your thoughts to the Declaration for Peace on Earth. What is your vision of a peaceful world? Please take a look at the Pathways To Peace Peace Wheel and its eight paths to peace. Can you picture peace thru habitat – what might that look like, or peace through the environment?
Send your input for the declaration to:celebrationearth2009@yahoo.co.jp

We know there are wars all over the place, but recognize that by making a declaration of peace on earth that we are opening the way to universal support for our cause. So we declare peace on earth and lay groundwork for it appear. This concept brought Celebration Earth into creation. People in Okinawa, who have greatly suffered thru war immediately saw the hope of such a declaration of peace and together we created Celebration Earth to advance peace on earth.

The Peace Wheel © is a model for Peacebuilding, developed by Pathways To Peace over the last 25 years. It consists of eight sectors, or pathways, that are interconnected and that symbolize different ways that people can help build Peace. These pathways transcend national, ethnic, racial, religious, age, or gender differences; they are common to every society.

Rainbow-hued interlocking infinity symbols, aligned to the four directions, circle out and back to the green mother center which is Earth. These infinity symbols, like the exalted feminine eight, include all circles of life and all expressions within their embrace. The protective, mothering spirit of Nature, strong in Law and seemingly eternal in patience, encircles each individual living entity, urging each one along its own evolutionary pathway. "PEACE" is recognized as both an innate state of Being, and a dynamic evolutionary process wherein constructive growth can occur and the children of this and future generations may gain hope for a better world to inherit.
